Grease actor Jeff Conaway has died

Very sad news to report now – actor Jeff Conaway, who is of course most famous for his role as Kenickie in the movie Grease, has passed away.

The troubled actor was admitted to hospital two weeks ago after he was discovered unconscious. The 60-year-old star was found after a suspected overdose, and has been in a medically induced coma and in a critical condition since his admittance to hospital.

As we reported earlier today Jeff’s family took the heartbreakingly difficult decision to switch off his life support machine when his doctors advised there was no hope of reviving him.

Jeff has struggled with addiction to cocaine, painkiller and alcohol or many year, and ever appeared on Celebrity Rehab in an effort to overcome his problems.

Jeff’s manager has released a statement about the death of his client, “Jeff was taken off life-support [Thursday] afternoon. His family chose to take him off of life-support based on advice from physicians. They thought for several days that the situation was hopeless." Jeff passed away today at a Los Angeles-area hospital and was surrounded by his sisters and nieces and newphews.

John Travolta, Jeff’s Grease co-star, has also issued a statement about his friend, "Jeff Conaway was a wonderful and decent man, and we will miss him. My heartfelt thoughts are with his family and loved ones at this very difficult time."

We’re genuinely saddened by this terrible news, our thoughts are with Jeff’s family.
